Under normal circumstances, when the air brake system of the truck is not working, the unloading valve is in the closed state.

1、 Not working status
Under normal circumstances, when the air brake system of the truck is not working, the unloading valve is in the closed state. At this point, compressed air is stored in the air storage cylinder, and the pressure gradually increases until it reaches the set maximum pressure value.
2、 Work trigger conditions
When the air pressure in the reservoir reaches the set opening pressure of the unloading valve, the unloading valve begins to operate. The opening pressure of this setting is usually adjusted by the manufacturer according to the requirements of the vehicle's braking system, usually around 8-10 bar.
3、 Working process
Air pressure effect: When the air pressure in the reservoir reaches the opening pressure, the air pressure will act on the piston or diaphragm of the unloading valve. This piston or diaphragm is usually made of rubber or other elastic material, which can deform under the action of air pressure.
Valve opening: As the air pressure continues to rise, the deformation of the piston or diaphragm will gradually increase until the spring force inside the unloading valve is overcome, causing the valve to open. At this time, the compressed air in the reservoir is discharged through the exhaust port of the unloading valve, reducing the air pressure in the reservoir.
Pressure regulation: The opening degree of the unloading valve will automatically adjust according to the changes in air pressure in the reservoir. When the air pressure drops to a certain level, the spring force will be greater than the force exerted by the air pressure on the piston or diaphragm, causing the valve to close and stop the exhaust. In this way, the unloading valve can automatically adjust the air pressure in the reservoir to maintain it within a relatively stable range.
4、 Function in the braking system
In the pneumatic braking system of trucks, the main function of the unloading valve is to protect the braking system and other pneumatic equipment from damage caused by excessive air pressure. When the air pressure in the reservoir is too high, the unloading valve can promptly discharge excess compressed air to prevent brake failure or other malfunctions caused by excessive air pressure in the braking system. At the same time, the unloading valve can also improve the reliability and stability of the braking system, ensuring the safety of the truck during operation.
